HENNA 101

This class is an introduction to the art of henna. Our focus will be on learning how to begin working with henna, from mixing paste to mastering motifs.

  • Learn how to prepare and store your own hand crafted henna paste so you can have henna ready whenever you want it

  • How to make sure the ingredients you purchase are pure, safe, and high quality

  • Basic components and motifs of henna design and how to practice them

  • How to combine motifs to create simple and fun designs you can use right away

  • Learn about the symbolic meaning of different regional designs that you can incorporate into your work.

  • Practice ways of supporting your body while you are working to help you get smooth, clean lines.

  • All henna supplies are provided and all participants will receive an information packet and a goody bag with supplies for practicing at home!

HENNA DESIGN AND COMPOSITION

February 1, 2pm-5pm

This class builds upon the material in Henna 101, but can also be taken as a stand alone class for students who are ready to work on buidling more complex and intricate design compositions. We will focus on Indo-Arabic and Western Fusion style motifs and different design formula. This will provide you with a strong foundation to use in design composition for a long time to come.

  •  Explore the foundations of ornamental design that will help you learn to confidently create your own henna designs.

  • Indo-Arabic and Western Fusion style breakdown

  • Design layout formulas for simple, intermediate and complex compositions

  • How to position yourself for maximum support and align the body of your recipient for perfect design placement

  • All henna supplies are provided and all participants will receive an information packet and a goody bag with supplies for practicing at home!

HENNA CRAFTS

February 8, 2pm-5:30pm

It is Craft Time!!! This class is a how to class for artists who want to take their henna skills and use them in more permanent media. We will learn about using henna as a crafting medium, and how to use other media: paint, pen and ink, pyrography, and even bleach to create ornamental and useful objects decorated in henna styles. We will discuss a broad array of surfaces to work on and how to prepare and seal them for optimal longevity.

  • Learn about how to use henna on fabrics, leather, wood, canvas and paper

  • Using acrylic paint in henna cones to create multi-color works on canvas, books, glass and stone

  • Creating muti-media pieces of art using gems, findings, foil and leaf, cut paper and more

  • Creating permanent decoration on fabric and clothing

  • All supplies are provided and all participants will receive an information packet and a goody bag with supplies for creating their own craft pieces at home

Bridal Henna Master Class

February 29, 12:30pm-6:00pm

Are you a henna artist who has always wanted to get into the intricate and complex design mork that goes into traditional bridal henna design? Are you a henna artist currently doing bridal design work and wanting to up your game? This class is for you! The Bridal Design Master class is for intermediate henna artists who want to develop or refine their bridal henna skills. We will be focusing on traditional Indian and Arabic style design with a touch of Western Fusion and looking at how to implement the newest trends in bridal henna styles.

  • Positioning your client and yourself for comfort and success
