The Rhythm of Design

Henna body art is based on ornamental design that is informed by the flow of the henna paste, the shape of the parts of the body being adorned, and the symbolism of design motifs. Turning all of these elements into a composition can be daunting. This class is about finding the ryhthm and flow of henna composition, and learning some of the rules of what makes a design pleasing to the eye.
Learn about how to align the body and lay out the over-all shape of henna designs and simple motifs that you can easily use to create pleasing compositions.
Practice ways of supporting your body while you are working to help you get smooth, clean lines.
Explore the foundations of ornamental design that will help you learn to confidently improvise your own henna designs.
Learn about the symbolic meaning of different regional designs that you can incorporate into your work.
All henna supplies are provided and all participants will receive an information packet and a goody bag with supplies for practicing at home!
